North Carolina Fire Killls Seven Students

In North Carolina, fire has taken the lives of seven young people who were enjoying a weekend at the beach when a huge blaze erupted early this morning. A witness says the fire started before 7am, destroying the first and second floors completely. No word yet on how the blaze began. Six of of the seven students who died were enrolled at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. The seventh victim was studying at Clemson University. Six survivors, all students at the University of South Carolina. Among the survivors is a male student, identified by his father as Trip Wylie, who jumped from the burning home into a nearby waterway. A local letter carrier says he saw Wylie yell to a young woman inside to jump as well. Officials havent said if she survived. The daughter of the homes owner was one of the students inside. Among the victims were members of two organizations at the University of South Carolina, the Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
