Pike County Animal Advocates Rally Support

Pike County resident Kellie Ennis is circulating a petition hoping to drum up support for a county wide animal control office. She says she's fed up with the absence of a reliable resource to prevent abuse and cruelty to pets.
Ennis hopes to take her petitions to county officials to compel them to found an animal control office using public funds. Ennis says the department could be paid for in part with revenue from fines and fees. She has also been in contact with Humane Societies in neighboring counties, and nationwide, hoping to get advice on how best to go about advocating for better resources for animals.
Ennis says she's collected 600 signatures, and is hoping to gather more support from her "save our pike county animals" web site .
