Knight Township could lose its fire department by the end of the year.
Today the department it cannot come to a contract agreement with the township trustee.
The biggest sticking point is money.
Both sides agree 271 thousand dollars is the budget for 2007.
But the department wants the township to pay just over 450 thousand dollars for 2009 to make up for the defceit theyve been working under since 2002.
Trustee Linda Durham is only offering 281 thousand.
If they cant come to an agreement the department cannot do things like assist AMR, offer dive and rescue services or fire prevention classes.
The department says they also cannot offer assistance to at least 14 other agencies including the Vanderburgh county sheriffs department and some first responders in Henderson.
The township trustee would not comment on camera but she says she wants to come to an agreement.
