After the November 6, 2005 tornado, there was much concern that tie-downs could have helped keep those mobile homes at Eastbrook Mobile Home Park grounded and saved some lives. Now, theres good news for mobile home owners. The city of Evansville and Vanderburgh County accepted a $312,000 grant from FEMA Monday. The money will be used to get all mobile homes strapped down and up to safety standards. While the straps may not be able to withhold a direct hit of a tornado, they will be able to stand up to 90 mile per hour winds. If youre a mobile home owner and want more information on how the grant can help you, call the Building Commissioners office after December First.
