Ever lose your keys, your shoes, your coat, your briefcase? Disorganization is a big time-waster and a big money waster too.
Evansville Life Coach Susan Hyatt says most people who have a clutter problem think its only something that affects other people.
She says, its a good idea to take the blinders off and honestly look at your life.
Hyatt says, "Think about the times when you know company is coming. What does that do to you? If it sends you into a panic mode and you have to spend more than 15 minutes getting ready for company - theres a problem."
Getting organized can spare you a lot of heartache. And theres a lot of science behind it too. People need visual clarity. When you walk into messy area, your heart starts to race. It seems to suck the positive energy out of you.
The goal is to get all the clutter-dwellers out there to start small. Take just a closet in one room and pull everything out.
Make three piles: garbage, donate, keep. If something is broken, by all means, throw it away. If its stained, beat up, or on its last leg, pitch it.
If you havent worn something in a year or longer, donate it. If you havent used something in a year or longer, donate it too.
Then, put away whatevers left. When you stand back and look at the tidy little space, youll feel the momentum and motivation to move on to the rest of the room. Just dont get carried away and try to do your whole house in a weekend.
