Fifty-one homes on the southeast side of town were finally given the green light for reassessment.
Vanderburgh County Assessor Jonathan Weaver says the homes are some of those that suffered the worst damage during last Septembers flooding.
More than 183 residents filled out "137-R" forms earlier this year but only 51 were approved for property reassessment.
Weaver says the reduction will be based on how much damage was done to the home and whether homeowners were still able to live there.
The deadline for the reassessments is December 31st.
Weaver says exactly when residents can expect refund checks is still up in the air.
Property taxes for most residents are due Tuesday.
