Downtown Evansville is getting into the holiday spirit. The citys official 2007 Christmas tree was cut down from Evansvilles west side. The trees owner, Beth Boardman, says its been part of her family for the past 18 years and now wants to share her Norway Spruce with the community. Boardman says, "We only paid $15 for it. Weve had it all these years. Were glad to share it with the city and hope they enjoy it as much as we have. Its been home to a lot of animals and were going to miss that, but were glad to share it." Growth Alliance for greater Evansville and Industrial Contractors joined together to bring the tree to 4th and Main in downtown Evansville. Tuesday, city workers will decorate the tree and the Mayor will do the official lighting. It will be a focal point for the citys Holiday Parade next Sunday, the 18th.
