The shot that killed a Wadesville woman was apparently intended for her dog, but it couldnt have been more deadly.
An autopsy performed in Evansville Friday showed that 29-year-old Nicole Stroud died of a gunshot wound to the chest that penetrated her heart and lungs.
Stroud was visiting her grandmother, who lives along Highway 66 in Wadesville, on Thanksgiving day when her dog strayed into the yard of Melinda Lindauer.
As Stroud chased the dog, police say Lindauer fired a shot intended for the animal, but it hit Stroud.
Lindauer is in the Posey County jail on charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless homicide.
