A RECENT REPORT PREDICTED THIS YEARS DAY-AFTER-THANKSGIVING-SALE WOULD BE THE WEAKEST BLACK FRIDAY IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS. FOX 7S JULIE DOLAN WENT TO A FEW OF THE BIG NAME STORES TODAY, AND FOUND THAT, AT LEAST IN EVANSVILLE, THIS WASNT THE CASE. WHILE MOST PEOPLE SPENT THEIR THANKSGIVING FEASTING ON TURKEY, ANDREA VAUGHT, AND HER FAMILY WERE BUSY PREPARING FOR BLACK FRIDAY. ONE OF THE STORES SHE WENT TO WAS ONE OF THE BUSIEST IN TOWN: TARGET. STORE MANAGER KEITH BELL SAYS THEY WERE PREPARED. Bell: "Weve been planning for this for 4-6 months. We were ready for the business and it exceeded our expectations." TARGET WASNT THE ONLY STORE WITH HUGE CROWDS. "Other large stores like Macys, Walmart and Target didnt give us any numbers, but they say sales were high, maybe even higher than last year. EXACT FIGURES WILL BE OUT NEXT MONTH, BUT STORE REPRESENTATIVES CONFIRMED THAT PREDICTIONS OF A WEAK BLACK FRIDAY WERE WRONG. VAUGHN AND HER FAMILY GOT A LATER START THAN LAST YEAR.. Vaughn: "We started at about 9:30 and traffic was terrible, we couldnt move anywhere, lines, we were in line for 1/2 hour or more everywhere we went." BUT THE CROWDS NEVER SCARE HER AWAY, LIKE THEY DID TO PAT STRUEH.. SHE MIGHT EVEN MAKE IT HER FIRST AND LAST BLACK FRIDAY. BUT GOOD DEALS CAN SWAY ANYONE TO GO BACK. MANY OF THE SALES HAVE CONTINUED INTO TODAY, AND THE CROWDS ARE HERE TO PROVE IT. IT LOOKS LIKE HOLIDAY SHOPPING HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN.
