A Warrick County mom got worried when her daughters bus ran late this afternoon.
Krista Groves says she started walking toward the bus-stop. Thats when she saw her daughter - 8 year old Kacey Groves - laying on Highway 261.
Shed been hit by a car.
It happened on Highway 261 near Jenner road around 3:20 Monday afternoon.
Police say - the bus driver pulled up to the area -- stopped -- put out its stop sign and turned on its flashing lights when Kacey got off the bus.
Krista says shes filed complaints with in-dot about speeding and other roadway hazards. She says she always knew it was a matter of time until someone got hurt. She never dreamed itd be her daughter.
Investigators say the driver was an elderly female and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Kacey groves is a third grader at John H. Castle. She has a broken tibia and fibula. Doctors told the family she may also have a cracked pelvis.
Right now - shes recovering at pediatric intensive care unit at Saint Marys.
She will undergo surgery Tuesday morning.
