Highway 231 Ahead Of Schedule

The Indiana Department of Transportation says the widening of US 231 through Spencer County should be finished 3 years ahead of schedule. That is a far cry from its fate several years ago when Governor Mitch Daniels nearly pulled the plug on the project for what he says was a lack of funds.The project is now being paid with Major Moves money. INDOT has awarded a contract for the latest work on the project to an Ohio firm. The final phase should go up for bid next fall, with a completion date of 2010.
