American flags were waving at Roberts Stadium today.. as hundreds of people from the community rallied to support local troops.
Evansvilles 163rd Field Artillery Unit will be heading to Iraq ,January 2nd.
Friends, family and many in the community came together to wish the soldiers well overseas.
Larry Rhodes, who was in charge of the send-off, says a lot of effort went into the event, but the hard work was worth it.
He says this was the first time a ceremony so large was put on in Evansville for a troop send-off... but probably not the last.
