A woman hit by a car while crossing Green River Road remains in the hospital tonight.
22-year old Melissa Sherwood was crossing the road near sycamore street just before eight last night when she was struck by motorist Ashley Mercer.
According to the police report, a witness told officers, it appeared mercer swerved to avoid hitting Sherwood.
Sherwood was transported to Saint Marys medical center, and is still there receiving treatment.
So far neither driver nor pedestrian have reportedly been cited for any wrongdoing.
