The weather may be cold but the city of Evansville is looking toward the swimming season. It looks like were getting some new city pools! The Park Board granted a 506 thousand dollar contract to Hafer Associates to design two new city pools. Meeting after meeting, the Mayors Aquatic Task Force worked for months deciding what to do with the cities pools. Outdated and falling apart, this community has neglected its pools for decades. The group decided the city should spend the money to build three new pools one on the south, west, and north parts of the city. Now two of the pools are ready for the first steps of construction. Hafer Associates will design and engineer the pools. Construction is expected to begin this summer and they hope to get the pools ready for swimming by june 2009.
