Patoka Township Trustee Arrested for Theft
Princeton – Tuesday afternoon, December 11, at 3:45 p.m., Indiana State Police Detective W.W. George arrested Neal Moody, 35, of Princeton, for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from Princeton Fire Territory. Moody was arrested after turning himself in at the Gibson County Jail.
On November 2, Indiana State Police launched a criminal investigation after funds were found missing from the Princeton Fire Territory account, which consists of Princeton City and Patoka Township Fire Departments. Moody is not only the Patoka Township Trustee, but also the President of the Princeton Fire Territory. As president, Moody is responsible for issuing checks and paying bills for the two fire departments. The investigation revealed that between January and July, Moody had allegedly issued himself 43 checks totally $10,420. Moody issued himself the checks for personal reasons and without the approval of the Princeton Fire Territory board.
Moody was released from the Gibson County Jail after posting a $750 cash bond.
