Murder suspect Preston Taylor had a dramatic first appearance before a Warrick county judge Tuesday morning. Taylor is accused of killing Brooke Balbach and her unborn child at Balbachs home in northern Warrick county Friday. Tuesday Judge Keith Meier entered a preliminary plea of non-guilty for Taylor and appointed Charles Martin as his attorney. Taylor sat quietly through most of the proceeding but Balbachs mother, Rita, had to be restrained by her sister after screaming out "you took my baby" at Taylor. The family says it was emotional seeing Taylor who was best friends with Balbachs boyfriend Stanley Offil and a former co-worker of her uncle Charles Stephens. Stephens says he sat and ate lunch with Preston many times....never expecting he could do something like this. Taylor remains in jail without bond. His next appearance is set for January 7th. Funeral services for Balbach are scheduled for Wednesday at Fuller Funeral Home in Dale.
