Youre running out of time to get your holiday mail sent. And the longer you put it off the more likely youll be to stress out while waiting in lines at the post office. But not everyone gets annoyed with the holiday. Santa Claus, Indiana is probably home to the happiest post office on earth this time of year - despite the fact they see nearly 36 times the business. Most people would get annoyed having to post mark their own mail, but the extra work here means something special on their envelopes. Its a Santa post mark. And you can only get it, "right here in Santa Claus, Indiana," says Employee Geri Freguson. Some make stamping their mail a family affair. And send it off to faraway places showing off their connections to santa station. The special stamps mean more mail for the small town post office. "Normally throughout the year its 13 thousand. This time of year about 1/2 million." But that doesnt bother Ferguson. Who says in all this hustle and bustle, "you gotta have patience." While the post office does its best to give your christmas an extra special touch. Its not only the Santa stamp that adds to the extra work. Santa Claus, Indiana is home base for letters to Santa. This year Ferguson says they got abut 10 thousand letters and the town does its best to answer each and everyone.
