Homeless Memorial

A special service was held in Evansville Thursday morning to honor an often forgotten segment of the community. Aurora Incorporated held its 7th annual Homeless Memorial Service.The program honors those who have died while living on the streets of Evansville.
On any given night, at least 400 individuals are temporarily sheltered in our emergency homeless shelters. 3 people were memorialized with candles, while another candle was lit for deaths unknown. The memorial service is held near the first day of winter, which marks the beginning of a particularly difficult and dangerous time for people who are homeless.
