City and county officials in Henderson are hoping to spark the governors interest in bringing an energy research center to the area. Theyre working together with State Senator Dorsey Ridley to promote the growth of the energy industry by creating the Henderson Energy Advisory Team (HEAT). Judge Executive Sandy Watkins says Henderson is situated to be a leader in energy independence because of the areas abundance of resources like coal, oil and natural gas. Over the next few weeks, Watkins and Mayor Davis will appoint members to HEAT. Together they anticipate between 15 to 20 members to the team, each with a background in energy use.
