Indiana Summary: --- Body Of Woman Found Near Indianapolis Street Identified (Indianapolis) -- Indianapolis Police have identified a woman whose body was found near downtown yesterday morning. Detectives say its 48-year-old Debra Furnish. Her nude body was found over a fence at 12th Street and Central Avenue. Investigators say that large truck tracks were found near the body. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Sergeant Paul Thompson says there were no marks on the body aside from some scratches but the death is considered a homicide. --- Fire Kills Elderly Man In Indianapolis Eastside Home (Indianapolis) -- A fire on the Indianapolis eastside has killed an elderly man. Firefighters were called to 900 North Belmar Street where they found the small home on fire with heavy smoke pouring from it. Neighbors say there was an explosion just before the fire. The identity of the victim and the cause of the fire have yet to be released. --- Titans Look For Playoff Berth Against Colts (Indianapolis) -- The Tennessee Titans can clinch a spot in the AFC playoffs with a victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. A win, or a tie and a loss by the Browns, would give the Titans the final Wild Card spot. Tennessee, which hasnt been to the postseason since 2003, posted a 10-6 win over the Jets last week to move to 9-and-6. The Colts toppled the Texans 38-15 last week to improve to 13-and-2. Indianapolis has already earned a first-round playoff bye. The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Three-to-six inches of snow is expected to fall in the Chicago area. The snowfall may be especially heavy between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. today. Drivers are urged to be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility. --- Boy In Critical Condition Following Fire (Chicago) -- A fire on Chicagos far South Side has left an eight-year-old boy in critical condition and ten people homeless. The fire broke out in a two-story house in the 100-block of West 112th Place around 2:20 a.m. The "Chicago Tribune" reports firefighters found the boy in the basement, where the fire apparently started. The boy suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital in critical condition. --- Elderly Man Dies In Fire (Chicago) -- An 85-year-old man was killed in a fire in his home on Chicagos Northwest Side early this morning. Authorities say the mans clothes caught fire while he was cooking in his home on the 45-hundred block of North Mobile Avenue around 3 a.m. The mans name has not been released. --- Police Investigate After Woman Found Dead In Lincoln Park (Chicago) -- Chicago Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in Lincoln Park this morning. Police say the woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found unresponsive in a grassy area on the 27-hundred block of North Cannon Drive around 2 a.m. News reports say the woman was stabbed but Chicago Police say they cannot confirm that information. The womans identity has not been released. --- Police Talk With Family, Search River Again For Missing Woman (Wheeling) -- The search is expected to continue today for a Des Plaines Township woman who has not been seen since Monday. Authorities on Thursday searched along the Des Plaines River for 24-year-old Anu Solanki, while family members distributed fliers publicizing her disappearance. Also yesterday, investigators from the Cook County sheriffs police brought Solankis husband and her older brother to their Skokie office for interviews, calling it routine. --- Elderly Man Missing, Last Seen At Stroger Hospital (Chicago) -- Chicago Police say an elderly city resident is missing. Police say 76-year-old Odyessey Thompkins was last seen at Stroger Hospital at about five oclock on Thursday afternoon. Thompkins is African-American, about five-feet-seven inches tall with salt and pepper hair and weighs 170 pounds. Police say Thompkins might be mentally confused. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black skull cap, brown shoes, a grey pullover sweater and a black jacket. Thompkins could be driving a 1993 dark green Toyota Camry with Illinois license plate number 2617240. --- Missing Woman Found Unharmed At Chicago Homeless Shelter (Chicago) -- A 69-year-old woman who had been missing since she walked out of a family members house to get coffee Christmas morning is back home safely. Chicago police say Noreen Murray was found Thursday evening as she tried to check into a homeless shelter in Chicagos Uptown neighborhood. --- Chicago Cop Facing DUI Charges (Chicago) -- A 43-year-old Chicago police officer is now facing DUI charges after a Christmas Eve crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Illinois State Police say Jon Cacciatore was off-duty when he slammed his car into the back of a tow truck that was parked on the shoulder near 43rd Street. A police spokesperson said Cacciatores blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit. He remains at Stroger Hospital in "critical but guarded" condition. --- Charges Filed In Crash That Hurt Two Cops (Chicago) -- A 22-year-old Chicago man has been charged in connection with a Wednesday morning crash in the South Loop that injured two Chicago Police officers. Police say Bernard Stephens faces several charges for the crash at State and Roosevelt including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license and operating a vehicle without insurance. The officers and their back seat passenger were hurt, as were Stephens and his female passenger. The officers were treated and released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
