A Warrick county mom is calling for tougher penalties for reckless drivers.
Krista Groves is partnering with Indiana Representative Suzanne Crouch for new legislation- after her child was hit by a car coming off the school bus.
Groves says running a school bus stop sign and causing an injury should be a felony.
If passed the law would make it a misdemeanor punishable up to a year in jail or a felony punishable up to 3 years in jail.
8 year old Casey Groves suffered a broken leg when she was hit by a driver two months ago.
At the time, she had to cross over highway 261 in front of traffic to get home from the bus.
Now Castle Elementary School has changed the bus route letting children off the bus in the opposite direction.
