Ellsworth Online Office Wins 2007 Gold Mouse Award
WASHINGTON – Rep. Brad Ellsworth’s 8th District Online Office was honored today as one of the best websites in Congress. The Congressional Management Foundation (CMF), a non-profit, non-partisan management consulting and research organization, awarded the website with a Gold Mouse Award. “My number one goal is to be accessible to the people of the 8th District. The Online Office is an extension of that Open Door Policy; providing constituents with an opportunity to share their views, get help with federal agencies, learn about my work in Washington, and so much more,” said Ellsworth. “I am proud the Online Office has been recognized as one of the best websites in Congress, and I encourage all 8th District constituents to visit it.” The 8th District Online Office, www.ellsworth.house.gov, was one of only four freshman websites to receive a Gold Mouse Award. CMF analyzed 618 congressional websites, including those of all Senate and House Members, committees, and official leadership sites, and awarded 36 Gold, 34 Silver, and 34 Bronze Mouse Awards this year. The websites were evaluated based on their content, usability, interactivity, innovation, and usefulness to their audience. “Congressman Ellsworth’s website shows that he understands the value of creating a virtual office to reach specific audiences who have come to expect having their needs met online,” said Beverly Bell, CMF’s Executive Director. “The Congressional Management Foundation congratulates Congressman Ellsworth for having a Web site that is among the best-of-the-best on Capitol Hill, and we are pleased to present the 8th District Online Office with the 2007 Gold Mouse Award.” The Online Office has several new features for 8th District constituents including a page to assist travelers with getting their passports. Ellsworth recently added a family safety section with an Online Safety Toolkit to provide parents and teachers with the tools they need to keep kids safe online, as well as a Recent Product Recalls page with the latest information on products that may pose a safety risk to Hoosier families.
