Calling all Tri-State Students. We need your help collecting beat up old sneakers, 20,000 of them to be exact.
Its a part of our new green initiative called Reuse A Shoe.
So far, Sharon Elementary, Castle Elementary, St. Theresas and other schools have decided to run a 2 week drive, collecting as many old shoes as they can. Were still looking for other schools to join us.
What youll be collecting:
* Athletic Shoes
* Any Brand
* No metal in soles
We have between now and the end of the year to reach our goal. For more information on kicking off a shoe drive at your school, you may contact Fox 7 anchor Jackie Monroe.

The old kicks will be sent to a Nike shoe recycling factory in Oregon. Theyll be ground up and turned into basketball surfaces and other sports surfaces and donated to communities in need.
