Still no contract for the Ohio Township Fire Department, even after Tuesdays special meeting. Fire Chief Jim Bealmear said the committee voted not to accept the contract presented to them by township trustee Lorraine Wittenbraker. The two sides couldnt agree on the terms of a new contract. Wittenbraker wants Ohio Townships new contract to be more like the contract currently in place in Chandler and Newburgh fire departments. Bealmear says they will now make a counter proposal. Its headed to their lawyer tomorrow. And theyre hoping its a contract trustee Wittenbraker accepts. In the mean time, Bealmear says the people of Ohio Township will have fire protection, despite what happens with the contract.
