A weekend aimed at empowering girls around the tri-state is ready to kick off.
The 5th annual "Girls in Bloom" workshop will take place February 23th at The Centre downtown.
This year's theme is "your day to shine" and will offer dozens of workshops for girls who attend.
Patty Avery, the event's director, says "It's really important for 5th through 8th grade girls. That's the time they lose their way, lose their north star, lose that commitment to who they are. We want to give them a chance to affirm their choices, so they can make that journey to their dreams."
The conference is free, but space is limited to 600 girls. Anyone interested can register or just get more information on
www.girlsinbloom.us .
FOX 7 is a sponsor of the event.
