The blockbuster hit, Remember The Titans, was based on the life of inspirational football coach, Herman Boone. In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Boone shared a special message at USI and looked back on his coaching days.
In the film, Remember The Titans, coach Herman Boone was portrayed by Denzel Washington. Herman Boone says the movie based on his life isnt just about football, in fact, it has a much deeper message. One very fitting for Martin Luther King Day.
"my message is the same as Martin Luther King. Learn to accept the soul of an individual, not based on the color of his skin."
Boone was USIs keynote speaker at their M.L.K. luncheon. The former coach says hes believed in Martin Luther Kings dream long before the motion picture was written. He hopes Martin Luther King Day will continue to have a strong influence on people, reminding them to accept and appreciate diversity.
The luncheon was followed by a meet and greet with the coach.
