An Academy Award nominated actor has been found dead in a New York City apartment.
A housekeeper found 28-year-old Heath Ledger in the apartment today.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, but a drug overdose may be responsible.
Earlier reports that pills were found strewn about the Manhattan apartment have been discredited by NYPD officers.
Ledger leaves behind an extensive resume including an Oscar nomination for his role in "Brokeback Mountain." His next film was slated to be the Batman movie "The Dark Knight," in which he played the role of The Joker.
That movie is scheduled to hit theaters in July.
