2 Arrests Made in Owensboro Robberies

UPDATE: At 6am this morning two arrests were made in connection with the robberies of the two convenient stores on Tuesday. Members of the Owensboro police department criminal investigations division, street crimes unit, and patrol division in plain clothes set up surveillance on convenient stores in Owensboro. A vehicle that was acting suspiciously at multiple locations was stopped by officers. The gun that is believed to have been used in the commission of the robberies was discovered. The subjects were taken into custody, questioned, and charged with the below listed charges. Within the last month Donta Johnson got out of jail for forgery, and Larry Davenport got out of jail for robbery. Both subjects are lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center. Johnson Charged with 1 count of robbery 1st degree And 1 count of attempted murder Someone shot a convenience store clerk in one of two robberies in Owensboro. The robberies happened Tuesday-- just after six at night at a Pantry store on Leitchfield and then after eleven at Kangaroo Express on Crabtree. One robber walked into the Pantry, fired shots and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. While two robbers entered the Kangaroo Express also fleeing with money but not before shooting 66 year old Robert Ashby in the leg. Owensboro police say they are not sure if the two are related, but they do agree that the men are very dangerous. The suspect from the Pantry robbery is described as a thin black male about six foot tall possibly in his 20's. The two suspects from the Kangaroo Express are also described as black males but because the were wearing cloths over their faces.....the description is limited. Owensboro Crimestoppers is offering a $1000 dollar reward for any information on the suspects. Call 270-687-8484 if you have any information.
