Sentencing in Horse Abuse Case

The Owensville man accused of abusing more than one hundred horses will not go to prison.
66 year-old Richard Stallings was charged with 50 counts of animal cruelty but received a year probation and four months home detention.
Under the plea agreement, all of the charges, including eight felony counts were lessened to misdemeanors.
The judge said during the sentencing he thought the agreement was a bit lenient.
But one of the prosecutions goals was to get stallings to admit he not only neglected the dozens of horses, but in a sense tortured them by not feeding them or attending to the sick or injured.
Stallings plead guilty to all 50 misdemeanor counts, of either neglect or torture.
The torture cases are those horses which had to be euthanized due to their condition.
