breaking news
With the results of an autopsy still unknown, Henderson Police are looking for witnesses, and physical evidence that might help them piece together the final hours that Sonya Powell was alive.
Her boyfriend Ricky Slaughters found her around 8 a.m. Sunday in her home at 603 Fifth Street in Henderson. Police are concerned about the cause of death because of Powells relatively young age of 38, and the fact that her body showed signs of abuse.
"Basically her whole body was covered with markings and bruises and injuries," said Henderson Police Detective Bryan Trimborn.
Investigators are making an appeal to the public, asking for information from anyone who might have seen Powell and Slaughters Saturday night. They are trying to put together a time line, and are concentrating on events that may have happened after 11 p.m.
Anyone with information is urged to call Henderson Police at (270) 831-1295
