Study: Brain Cancer Risk Doesnt Increase With Cell Phones
(London) -- The risk for developing brain cancer does not increase with the use of a mobile phone.
Thats the conclusion of a new Japanese study that looked at the effects of radiation on various parts of the brain.
Researchers compared phone use in 322 brain-cancer patients with 683 healthy people.
Scientists at Tokyo Womens Medical University determined that regular use of a cell phone did not significantly affect the risk for developing brain cancer.
Researchers also examined radiation that came from different types of phones to assess how the brain reacted in various areas.
The complete findings of the study are published in the "British Journal of Cancer." The number of mobile phones used globally has grown exponentially since the 1980s, yet the number of cases of brain cancer has remained about the same.
The majority of studies have found no link between brain cancer and mobile phone use.
