After nearly 3 decades of separation, a tri-state family is on the verge of a bittersweet reunion. They will soon be reconnected, thanks to a chance video clip they caught right here on Fox 7 News. That video clip aired on Fox 7 news last week, and only for a few brief seconds. But it had all the information the Cornelius family needed to locate a long missing brother. Ed and his big brother Danny were so close in age, they were often mistaken for twins. The blood brothers, adopted by the Cornelius family of Montgomery, Indiana, stayed close until their teenage years. When the boys returned to Daviess county after service in the military, Danny started to get a lot more familiar with the law An escape from the local jail eventually landed big brother Danny in the state pen. The first of two stints hed serve in prison. Eds big brother was out of his life, but not out of his mind. Over the decades, he often thought of trying to contact him. Ed wasnt the only one wondering how his brother was doing, his adoptive parents, both in their 80s, have also been curious. Even the Washtington Indiana police, who arrested Danny several times all those years ago, recently asked about him. And that is when Eds wife Sharon, saw this, a split second shot in a Fox 7 news story about life at the coroners office. That unmistakably showed what became of Danny. Sharon called her husband. The whole family watched the story on the Fox 7 web site. Sure enough, Danny Cornelius death records were on file at the Vanderburgh County Coroners Office. Danny passed away in an Evansville nursing home last November, and is buried in a paupers grave. Now brother Ed is slowly learning what became of a brother hed had a falling out with all those years ago. Eds wife says its much more than coincidence that she was watching that news story that night. For his part, Ed is working to find out why his brother died in a nursing home at age 55. Hoping to learn if there is a family medical history he needs to know about.
