News Release From AT&T: AT&T Indiana to bring 150 more Jobs to EVANSVILLE Total Workforce at New AT&T Wireless Customer Care Center to Reach 750 EVANSVILLE, Ind., Feb. 6, 2008 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that AT&T Indiana will bring an additional 150 new jobs to Evansville in 2008. Gov. Mitch Daniels and Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel joined local leaders and AT&T officials today to celebrate the continued expansion. AT&T Indiana has now announced 1,650 new jobs statewide since a sweeping telecom reform bill was signed into law in 2006. "When we achieved telecom reform, we knew that jobs would follow," said Daniels. "At the same time AT&T is connecting more and more Hoosiers, the company is creating more opportunities, and Evansville, in particular, is a beneficiary." The 150 new employees will be part of an Advanced Network Services division that supports AT&Ts wireless business customers with complex data needs. The new hires will join existing workers at a wireless business-to-business customer care center that AT&T opened in Evansville last year. Located on Vogel Road, the centers workforce will reach 750 employees in 2008. "These additional jobs are really the icing on the cake, given all the investment and expansion AT&T has already brought to Evansville," said Weinzapfel. "Our city continues to grow, and these new jobs will do even more to strengthen our local economy." "We applaud Gov. Daniels, Mayor Weinzapfel and all of the state and local officials for creating an ideal environment for job expansion," said George Fleetwood, president, AT&T Indiana. "House Bill 1279 is the best bill of its kind in the country, and it continues to help us deliver more jobs, investment and innovation." AT&Ts wireless business-to-business organization provides service to more than 95 of the Fortune 100 companies. The organization also counts more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 and some 1,800 federal, state and local government agencies as customers. "We continue to be very impressed with the level of talent and expertise that we have been able to bring in from the local workforce," said Ray Klages, vice president, Business Customer Services for AT&Ts wireless business-to-business organization. "The addition of these new jobs is a direct result of our success to date and the belief that our new hires will deliver the kind of exceptional service our customers expect and deserve." On March 14, 2006, Daniels signed HB 1279 into law. The legislation was championed by Sen. Brandt Hershman and Rep. Mike Murphy. The legislation received overwhelming bipartisan support. Since passage of the bill, telecom and cable companies around the state have announced investments of more than $450 million.
