breaking news
Quick thinking by a neighbor led to the arrest of a couple of suspected burglars.
The Daviess county sheriffs department says that neighbor did everything right.
She saw two male subjects going into a window in the home behind her, turn on the light inside and make movements inside.
She then called Daviess County 911 as she saw it happening.
The 911 GIS mapping system along with quick action by this neighbor brought the two men armed with a crow bar in custody.
30 year old Derrick Smith of Owensboro and 29 year old Joshua Sheperd of Utica.
Shepherd doesnt have a Daviess county mug shot because federal agents took him into custody for previous charges of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Chief Deputy Jeff Jones says Derrick Smith could get up to 5 to 10 years in jail for the burglary.
Joshua Shepherd an even longer sentence because of his federal charges.
