Toy Industry To Announce New Safety Standards
(San Francisco, CA) -- Rocked by several recalls resulting in millions of toys being yanked off store shelves, the toy industry aims to enhance its safety standards.
MarketWatch reports the Toy Industry Association will release new standards for toy makers on Friday.
The association hopes to strengthen the design analysis process, rate factor quality and increase testing.
The standards would apply to factories in China, Europe and the U.S. that make toys for sale in this country.
The proposed standards would be voluntary and would work hand in hand with legislation pending in Congress.
