Nine Counties Eligible for Disaster Relief
(Frankfort) Nine Kentucky counties hard hit by severe weather earlier this month have been declared eligible for federal disaster relief, state officials said today. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is making the aid available to those living in Allen, Christian, Fayette, Hardin, Hart, Meade, Mercer, Monroe, and Muhlenberg counties. The counties were among those hit by tornadoes, straight-line winds and storm flooding February 5 and 6. More counties could be added to the list as assessments continue, officials said. Additionally, low-interest loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to eligible businesses affected by the storms. Residents and businesses can apply for assistance by registering online at www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362).
