Owensboro City Commission Vote to Ban Skateboarders

The Owensboro City Commission voted to ban the use of skateboards and BMX type bikes downtown.
The commissioners voted on the ban Tuesday evening.
The discussion on a ban started in early April when Mayor Ron Payne discovered $4,000 in damage to the new riverfront crossing area.
He blames skateboarders and bikers for what he calls vandalism.
But he also says he recognizes the need for a skate park, something he hopes to have in the works in the next few months.
