It's a way to remember their own. The Owensboro Fraternal Order of Police holds their 27th annual Memorial Service. This year's event was held at Lewis Lane Baptist Church. The service includes songs, bagpipes, and guest speakers.

Officers say this event is a great way to remember fallen heroes, killed in the line of duty.

"We love each other as brother and sister in law enforcement," said FOP 16 President Jeff Payne, "just as people in a family love each member of that family. Whether you're in California or New York, if you where the badge you're a brother or a sister, either way."

This year's guest speaker was Stephen Watkins. He is the Assistance Chief of Police in Washington, D.C.
