Allied Lockout Nearing End?

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: May 18, 2012
The contract dispute between Evansville's Allied Waste and its employees could come to an end next week.

According to employees, members of the Teamsters Local 215 are tentatively scheduled to meet with Allied officials on Wednesday at the union's headquarters.

A source tells Eyewitness News that a lot of the workers are going to ask to vote on the company's contract offer.

Nearly 80 union employees were locked out on May 8th, after the company and Teamsters failed to reach an agreement on a retirement plan.

The company brought in additional workers to handle trash pick-up, and manage the landfill until the lockout ends.
