African American Museum Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary

An Evansville museum celebrates a major milestone tonight. The Evansville African American Museum is 5 years old this year. The museum was the first African American museum in the state.
CNN's Roland Martin was the event's keynote speaker, and he received the key to the city from City Councilman Dan Adams.
"He spoke about the education aspect of African American history," said Museum Executive Director Lu Porter. "That's so important for the younger teenagers to know. We need to know where we've been to get to where we want to be, so we're very excited to hear his story tonight."
Organizers also honored the museum's founder, Sandra Matthew. If you'd like to check out the museum, officials say they'll be offering free tours for the next week.
