Area veterans took time today to dedicate a new flagpole at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum today. The pole was installed two months ago, but veterans gathered today after a somber morning full of memorial sevices to dedicate the new flag pole.

Veterans worked for two years raising money with the help of sponsors and are thankful for everyone's support.

"You know I look at it as our community continues to come together" said Veterans Council Commander Stephen Melcher, "and takes care of their veterans more than what they used to and thats what I'm proud of."

Sponsors helped with cash and matching donations.
