Evansville Police continue the investigation into Monday night's fatal stabbing north of downtown.

Police responded to the call at the corner of Governor and Michigan Streets around 11 Monday night and found the victim, 49 year old Latonya McNary, stabbed in the chest.

Officers quickly arrested 65 year old Robert Krietemeyer for the alleged attack. Those preliminary charges later became murder charges when the victim died shortly after being trasported to the hospital.

At this point, officers know the 'who' and 'what' in the case but are struggling to figure out the 'why.'
