UPDATE: The Vanderburgh Co. Coroner confirms the cause of death may be heat related.
He has been identified as 52 year old Edward Rayborn. He is from southern Illinois.
We are told he was homeless. Evansville Police did a welfare check on him July 7th and told him to go to a homeless shelter.
His body was taken to a Mt. Carmel funeral home.

PREVIOUS REPORT: Evansville police are investigating the discovery of a dead body near railroad tracks on the city's north side.
The body was discovered around 1:00 near the intersection of Maxwell and Fares.  Police say they believe the body is a male, but they also say it has been there a while.
At this point it is too early to tell if foul play is involved, or what the cause of death might be.
