Southwestern Indiana Law Enforcement has already issued more than 300 DUIs in 2008, and they say efforts will continue. Theyre conducting a blitz. From March 7 to March 23 there will be extra officers patrolling roads, primarily looking for drunk drivers. Officers also hope that one womans story will teach others to be more responsible. Jennifer Mabrey lost her husband just over a year ago when he was struck by a drunk driver on highway 66. Now shes speaking out in hopes that others will learn from her loss. More than 13,000 people nationwide were killed in drunk driving accidents in 2006. Officers advise drivers to take extra precautions when drinking-- especially with St. Patricks Day coming up.
