Illinois Pension Bill to Get Vote This Month

A vote on a bill to overhaul pensions for Illinois employees will go ahead at the state legislature's special session this month.
House Speaker Michael Madigan decided to allow the vote on August 17th. The house bill does not address the issue of shifting pension costs for public school teachers from the state school districts. Instead, it would only change pensions for two of the state's five retirement systems.
