ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) -- Central Indiana police say a 17-year-old boy arrested in connection with a burglary died after he apparently hanged himself with a seat belt.

Anderson Police arrested the boy, another juvenile and a man early Wednesday after being called to investigate a burglar alarm at the Madison County Shrine Club.

Police spokesman Joel Sandefur says the 17-year-old was handcuffed behind his back and placed alone in a police car. He says the youth somehow managed to get his handcuffed hands from behind his back to his front and then used a seat belt to hang himself.

Police performed CPR on the youth but he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
