breaking news
An Evansville native and two time Olympian competes in race-walking at the London Olympics. Harrison high school grad, Sergeant John Nunn participated in the 50 kilometer race-walk. His father, USI Professor Dr. Les Nunn was in the stands cheering him on just like he did at Harrison. He was the only American in the 50 kilometer race which equals out to about 31 miles, its a long distance sport where one foot must be in contact with the ground at all times. Nunn didn't finish with a medal, but he says many of the athletes didn't finish at all. Nunn finished 43rd out of 65 race-walkers, but he's always striving to improve. His father says he was glad to be there for every stride. The 25 laps are complete, we asked Nunn who's also a father of 8 year old Ella if there wll be a future Nunn in the Olympics. A father, an Olympian, and a Hoosier, Nunn says his days of race-walking are far from over. Nunn says he's going to tour Europe with his daughter Ella and then start training for next year's world championship in Russia. He thanks the tri-state and his coaches for helping to shape him into the athlete he is today. John and Ella have a website for Ella's homemade cookies, check them out at http://www.ellascookieco.com/
