The shoes just keep rolling in. Monday the entire school district of North Posey County showed us what they collected for our Reuse a Shoe campaign. And, they got creative with it by spelling out Fox 7 on the gym floor with the shoes. The kids are taking part in our green initiative by helping spare shoes from the landfill and recycle them. The 14-hundred students in the district collected just under 700 pair of shoes. The kids say when they learned about the shoe drive they couldnt wait to get moving on it. And, there’s still time for your school to get involved. We’re collecting used tennis shows for the Nike Reuse a Shoe program. When we have 20,000 shoes we’ll ship them off to a recycling plant. There the shoes will be ground up and used to make new playgrounds and basketball courts in struggling inner city areas like New Orleans. Find out more by contacting Fox 7’s Jackie Monroe at jmonroe@wtvw.com. And, our thanks to Shelter Moving for its help in transporting and storing all of these shoes
