Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels signed the states property tax relief and restructuring bill.
The Governor sealed the deal Wednesday afternoon in front of a crowd of several hundred people..
Daniels called it a historic occasion and said the legislation puts taxpayers first.
The bill provides additional homestead credits this year and will cap property tax bills in a vast majority of the state.
The bill also increases the sales tax by 1%., to 7%, starting April 1 to help pay for the relief.
Daniels also signed the pull tab legislation Wednesday.
It goes into effect July 1.
