Human Relations Commission Financial Dispute Resolved

By: Chris Veech
Updated: October 4, 2012

Financial problems for the Human Relations Commission serving Evansville and Vanderburgh County may be over. Vanderburgh County Commissioners had said funding of the HRC was to be split between the city at 91 percent and 9 percent from the county. HRC Executive Director Diane Clements received an agreement from the County Clerk's Office that was made in 1989 that stipulated an 87 to 13 split between the city and county. The original plan to cut the HRC's budget in 2013 was passed last week. The County Commissioners said that they would rework the budget to reflect the new funding split.
